Jessica Nguyen - Junior Policy and Campaigns Officer


Jessica joined the EWL Secretariat in September 2019, working on women’s socioeconomic rights, including advocacy on the MFF 2021-2027, EU recovery plans and gender budgeting. Currently Jessica also coordinates EWL’s engagement in the Generation Equality Action Coalition on violence against women and girls. She also supported EWL’s engagement with the UN for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

Jessica holds a Masters in Human Rights Law and Policy, focusing on gender equality, refugee law and children’s rights. Prior to EWL, Jessica worked on the issue of the rule of law in Europe with the International Federation for Human Rights’ (FIDH), and for a political consultant at the European Parliament following Committee discussions on women’s rights and human rights.

Jessica previously worked with the Australian federal government for 7 years in migration and refugee contexts, including cases of child sexual abuse in detention settings. She also completed two internships with the Australian Permanent Representation to the UN Human Rights Council, and with UN Women in Bangkok. As a feminist, she strives to break down systemic injustices and prejudices, and lead with empathy to shape a world where all diverse women and girls live a free, inclusive and equal life.
