Women’s commitment to fight Gender-based violence
The fight for sexual health and reproductive rights (SHRR) is intimately linked to the fight against gender-based violence. Indeed, nowadays persistence of historically unequal power relations between women and men allows for the unspoken acceptance of men’s rights to control and use women’s bodies and sexuality and for different forms of male violence against women. The use of terms “gender-based violence” brings into light the social dimension of violent acts perpetrated by men against women and supported by social norms and stereotypes.
