Belgian prostitutes in Ghent have been told to cover up
BBC World News, 04 October 2012
In a BBC report of 04 October 2012, EWL Policy Officer and Project Coordinator Pierrette Pape is interviewed to give the perspective of the European Women’s Lobby on the new regulation issued by the city of Ghent affecting women in prostitution. Under the new rules, promoted by the Mayor of Ghent, if their outfits are considered too skimpy, women in prostitution face a fine of 120 euros. The EWL challenges the Mayor’s assumption of prostitution being ’a social value’.
