Opening of a new UN Women’s Nordic Liaison Office in Copenhagen
(Brussels, 15 May 2013) On the 23rd of April Acting Head of UN Women Lakshmi Puri and Danish Prime minister of Development Cooperation Christian Friis Bach opened a new UN Women’s Nordic Liaison Office in Copenhagen.
The UN Women Sub-regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, dealing mostly with Central Asian countries is being established in Istanbul. More information about Un Women county offices in European and Central Asia.
Acting Head of UN Women, Lakshmi Puri, and Danish Minister of Development Cooperation, Christian Friis Bach, sign the host country agreement at UN Women headquarters in New York on 23 April.

Nordic countries have a long history of cooperation with the UN. The UN Women’s presence in Copenhagen will give an opportunity for a closer cooperation with Nordic political decision makers as well as the UN Women National Committees in Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, the private sector, media and civil society. The new office will also work closely with the UN Women Brussels-based office and with other UN agencies in Copenhagen.
