Tribute to June Jacobs

[Brussels, 26 July 2018] It is with immense sadness that the EWL announces the death of former Board and Executive member, June Jacobs. June was the President of the International Council of Jewish Women and a longstanding active member of EWL from 2002 to 2008, including Chair of the Membership Committee. In this role, June was very proud to have facilitated the membership of the Federation of Romani and Traveller Women. June was also Vice-Chair of the National Alliance of Women’s Organisations, NAWO, until 2015.

June was a passionate women’s rights defender. She worked tirelessly for peace, conflict resolution and interfaith dialogue. She received a number of awards for her work for gender equality and for the advancement of women and girls everywhere in the world. She was a frequent active participant at the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

June had a deep sense of compassion, a warm personality, witty and a good sense of humour. She will be sorely missed.

The EWL extends its deepest condolences to June’s family in London and beyond.

Thank you June for everything you did and gave.
