Dear friends,
The Global Foundation for the Elimination of Domestic Violence (GFEDV) has decided to enter an application for a European Union grant in order to establish a programme to encourage businesses within EU member states to improve the Gender Pay Gap, which is now thought to be at 16.2%. Unlike the larger multinational charities who are the most common recipients of this sort of grant, EDV understands the importance of working with grassroots organisations, academics and building partnerships and programmes from the ground up. We have identified you/your team as an ideal potential partner for our proposed programme, and would like to offer you the opportunity to find out more.
Instead of imposing a top-down programme that might not reach and affect real lives in the long term, we intend to give local organisations and business the tools necessary to help them achieve real, sustainable change, especially in such a period of economic decline. Experience has shown EDV that methods as simple as the sharing of information, coordinated action and raising of awareness can have a dramatic effect.
We believe that as public opinion has been greatly affected in recent months by renewed pushes for equal pay legislation such as Obama’s Wage Gap Bill, that now would be the opportune moment to act.
Gender Equality has so many unjust consequences and in understanding the importance of this issue we know our success will be directly affected by the knowledge and unique skills of the organisations we are able to work with.
We hope you will be interested in becoming a partner in this endeavor. As a partner, your benefits will include funding, contacts, access to global networks to raise awareness of your work. In return we will require you to work in partnership and deliver feedback on the results of your work, in order to help us continually improve our level of service, and to commit to EDV exclusively with respect to this grant application.
If you would like to pursue this opportunity, please contact us at
dj@gfedv.org or telephone on (+44) 07903822708 (preferably between the hours of 9-5 GMT).
Kind regards,
Deborah Jamieson, OBE
