[Brussels, 10 January 2014]
The Spanish government is about to suppress the right to abortion by restricting it to situations of rape or physical/psychological threats for women. This would mean a backlash of 30 years for women’s rights. The ruling party (the Popular Party) has the absolute majority in the National Assembly, which leaves no doubt about the outcome of the bill.
To support Spanish women, women and men from all over Europe are taking pictures of themselves with a hanger and/or knitting needles, with the slogan “Nunca màs” (“Never again” in English), to refer to methods used in countries were abortion is (or was) illegal (or severely restricted).
Support the Spanish women for their right to decide!
