[Brussels, 11 March 2013] On Thursday 7 March the Turkish Connections Platform hosted their kick-off event, raising money for the European Women’s Lobby (EWL) this International Women’s Day.
Special Recognition awards were presented during the evening, including the inaugural “Turkish Woman of the Year in Europe.”
Serap Altinisik , EWL Fundraising Coordinator and Policy Officer, pictured above, took to the stage to present EWL’s advocacy work on gender equality in the EU, followed by Jessica Machacova who spoke about the first European Political Mentoring Network, which Turkish Connections Platform are supporting.
Towards the end of the evening, Mary-Ann Struthers, EWL Information and Human Resources Officer, performed “Rise Up, Stand Up”, written for One Billion Rising, leading a flashmob dance alongside Valentina Brogna, EWL intern.
