ONLINE COURSE ON TRADE AND GENDER – APPLY NOW

The UNCTAD Virtual Institute (Vi) and the UNCTAD Trade, Gender and Development Section have pooled their expertise to develop an on-line course on trade and gender.
The course targets academics, policymakers and representatives of civil society in developing and transition countries involved in research, teaching, policy formulation and implementation, or field work in the area of trade and gender. Qualified women candidates, as well as candidates from sub-Saharan Africa and the least developed countries, are particularly encouraged to apply.
Participants with passing grades in the course will receive a certificate of completion. Top course graduates will become part of the UNCTAD trade and gender consultancy roster, and may be considered for future assignments in this area and/or participation in intergovernmental meetings on trade and gender organized by UNCTAD.
Top course graduates from academic institutions in the least developed and lower-income countries of sub-Saharan Africa maybe eligible for participation in a follow-up five-day regional workshop on trade and gender. Successful participants of the workshop will subsequently be able to apply for financial support and mentoring in the development of papers on trade and gender issues of policy relevance to their countries.
The deadline for applications is 1 December, 2014
Note: applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Economics, Law, Political Science or a related area, and have an excellent knowledge of English
