This weekend, 10-11 October, the Feminist Economics Working Group met in Vilnius to discuss the update of the Purple Pact, EWL’s policy document which provides an analysis and recommendations on the macro-economic system from a feminist perspective.
The first Purple Pact was published in 2020 and is translated in portuguese, french and german
The Feminist Economics Working Group is currently working on updating this key document in order to address new emerging issues affecting women, such as climate change, militarization, anti-feminism policies, and technological changes.
This work is particularly relevant in a time where Europe faces a demographic crisis which is aggravating a structural care crisis. Therefore, the Feminist Economics WG is committed to propose more comprehensive recommendations on a feminist care economy, reiterating its call for a Care Deal for Europe able to respond to the challenges and ensure accessible, affordable and high-quality care services.
The members also had an exchange of views with Ms Jolanta Reingarde, EIGE’s Research & Innovation Team Leader, who presented the Gender Equality Index 2025 and shared EIGE’s main evidence on the gender care gap. It was also an opportunity to learn more about EIGE’s latest campaign: Gender Equality for Growth.
EWL would like to thank the Feminist Economics members for their engagement and commitment, as well as to the Lithuanian Women’s Lobby for attending our meeting and welcoming us in their beautiful city.
