[Valetta, 12 October 2016, Press Release by The Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations (MCWO) ] Controversial proposals made by a parliamentary committee in Malta last week, sparked an online petition and a protest to be held this Sunday. Women’s organisations demand that women should not have to get a prescription from their doctors to use the morning-after pill. EWL members from the Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations (MCWO) strongly disagree with the suggestion that the Morning After Pill (MAP) should be dispensed only through a prescription. The MCWO feels that women in Malta have the right to a wide choice of emergency contraception and that this should be widely available over the country in order to allow women to have more control over their lives, their health and their body.
