Advancing gender equality in climate governance
28 September 2026, 12:30-14:00 CET, Zoom platform
Around the world, both women’s rights and climate policies are losing ground to the forces of deregulation. But women and girls are often on the frontlines of climate impacts, especially among marginalised groups or those facing poverty and conflict. Climate policies that do not take this into account are flawed.
At the same time, women remain under-represented in decision-making across the EU. Governance in climate policies is no exception.
To help address this, the European Women’s Lobby carried out a two-year project, Women in Climate, bringing together research and evidence from a diverse range of stakeholders across six EU Member States. The project culminated in a set of policy recommendations grounded in the experiences and expertise of those working on the front lines of gender equality and climate action.
In parallel, the EWL launched the PARITY NOW! campaign, calling on Council of Europe member states to finally institutionalise 50/50 parity at all levels of decision-making and across all sectors of society.
This webinar will explore the challenges of achieving parity in climate governance and discuss concrete solutions to ensure that women’s rights are fully integrated into climate policies.
