From 5 to 7 June 2026, members of the European Women’s Lobby gathered in Brussels for our annual General Assembly, bringing together representatives from across our membership network, the EWL Board of Administrators, and staff from the EWL Secretariat.
Over three days of meetings, discussions and collaborative workshops, members reflected on the achievements of the past year, shaped priorities for the future, and strengthened our collective commitment to advancing women’s and girls’ rights across Europe.
The programme began on 5 June with a meeting of the EWL Board of Administrators, which reviewed progress since February 2026 and discussed the proposed Strategic Framework 2027–2031. The day also featured the event Closing the Gap: Women and Climate, a Planetary Emergency, where participants explored national and European recommendations to address the gendered impacts of the climate crisis.
During the General Assembly on 6 and 7 June, members reviewed and approved key governance and financial documents, including the 2025 Financial Statements and relevant budget updates for 2026. Delegates also discussed the organisation’s activities over the past year, current funding developments, and emerging priorities for the women’s movement across Europe. Members also debated and voted on emergency motions, ensuring that EWL remains responsive to the evolving political and social context affecting women and girls throughout Europe.
The second day focused on participation, collaboration and organisational development. Through a series of interactive breakout sessions, members explored how to bring the new strategy to life, strengthen organisational resilience, identify capacity-building priorities, and deepen cooperation across the EWL network. These discussions highlighted the expertise, commitment and solidarity that continue to define our movement.
The ideas, experiences and perspectives shared throughout the weekend will play an important role in shaping EWL’s future work and strengthening our impact across Europe.
We extend our sincere thanks to all members, Board representatives, Executive Committee members and staff. Together, we will continue working towards a feminist Europe where all women and girls can live free from violence, discrimination and inequality.
We look forward to continuing this work together and to meeting again at the next EWL General Assembly.
