(Brussels, 23 April 2013) On Tuesday the 23rd of April 2013, at the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels, the EWL had the pleasure to meet a delegation of feminist activists from Northern Ireland. The delegation came to Brussels on a study tour to meet key stakeholders at European Level. Event raises funds to support Women’s Rights across Europe

[Brussels, 19 April 2013] After the successful event to launch the Turkish Connections Platform and raise funds to support the European Women’s Lobby (EWL), we are grateful and pleased to announce that over 1,800€ was raised to help secure and promote women’s rights and gender equality across Europe. The funds raised will go towards supporting the very first European Political Mentoring Network, supporting migrant and ethnic minority women to run for the European Parliamentary elections.

EWL brings support and a European dimension to the French mobilisation against the system of prostitution

(Paris, 16 April 2013) Exactly 67 years after the law banning brothels in France (13 April 1946), the 54 organisations of the Abolition 2012 coalition organised a large event on 13 April aiming to mobilising French society and politicians to obtain a comprehensive policy framework for abolishing the system of prostitution. More than 500 participants, from all sectors of society gathered to discuss ways forward to put an end prostitution, this most pervasive violation of women’s rights.

Roma Integration - EWL members and NGOs publish open letter to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria

(Sofia, 08 April 2013) To highlight the stasis of Roma integration in Bulgaria, EWL members and other activist NGOs have published an open letter they sent to the Prime Minister. Twenty years after the discussion of Roma integration started, the situation is worsening, rather than improving.

EWL supports MEPs’ call for EU action to end violence against women in Europe

EWL and coalition partners demand gender equality remain central
